Brooches & Pins at Hamilton Jewelers

A brooch is back on lapels and at the shoulder of a dress, and the pieces people want are the ones with a story. Estate brooches from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries were made by hand in gold and set with stones that are hard to find now, and a signed piece from a Paris house is as much a small sculpture as a piece of jewelry. Hamilton buys and sells estate jewelry, and brooches are among the pieces that come through most often.

Hamilton's brooch selection changes often because most pieces are one of a kind. Shown here is a Marchak Paris frog pin in 18k gold set with diamonds and sapphires. Estate and vintage pieces, including antique garnet brooches and Roman coin brooches in 18k gold, pass through our Princeton and Palm Beach salons, and our team can tell you what is on hand. A brooch suits a milestone birthday, a mother of the bride, or a collector who already has everything else. Signed pieces are sold with whatever provenance is known, and our team can explain a maker's mark or period. Gold pins in flower, animal, and spiral forms also appear, as do monogram pins in sterling silver.

The best way to buy a brooch is to see it. Visit Princeton or Palm Beach, or book an appointment and we will show you what has arrived. Gift wrapping is included on every order, and our team can help you choose. Converting a brooch to a pendant can be discussed at the same visit.

Brooches & Pins FAQ

How do I wear a brooch today?

On a blazer lapel, at the shoulder of a dress, on a coat collar, or pinned to a hat band or clutch. Several small pins can be grouped.

Do you carry estate brooches?

Yes. Estate and vintage pieces come through regularly and are often not listed online. Our team can tell you what is in the salons.

Can a brooch be converted to a pendant?

Many brooches can be fitted with a bail or converted at our Princeton workshop. Our team can advise on a specific piece.

How should I store a brooch?

Keep it in its own pouch or box with the pin closed, away from other pieces that can scratch the stones.
