NOMOS Glashütte at Hamilton Jewelers
NOMOS Glashütte was founded by Roland Schwertner in 1990 in Glashütte, the small Saxon town that has been the center of German watchmaking since the nineteenth century. Today it is the largest maker of mechanical watches in Germany. Every NOMOS watch runs on a caliber built in-house, including the neomatik automatic movements with the company's own swing system escapement. The designs come out of Berlinerblau, the NOMOS studio in Berlin, and follow the Deutscher Werkbund and Bauhaus idea that form should be reduced to what is needed and nothing more.
Hamilton carries a broad selection of the NOMOS collections: Tangente, the clean dress watch that defines the brand; Club and Club Sport, with their sturdier cases and worldtimer and neomatik versions; Metro with its date and power reserve; Orion, Tetra, Ahoi and Autobahn, along with gold Tangente models. Sizes run from 33 to 41 millimeters, so there is a NOMOS for a slim wrist and for a sports-watch wearer alike. It suits anyone who wants a serious mechanical watch with quiet, legible design rather than a loud one.
The best way to choose a NOMOS is to try several on, because the thin cases and long lugs wear differently from most Swiss watches. Visit our watch salons in Princeton or Palm Beach, or book an appointment and our watch team will set out the models you want to compare. Every order ships gift wrapped, and if you are buying for someone else our team can help narrow the choice.
