Oris at Hamilton Jewelers
Oris was founded in 1904 in Hölstein, a village in the Swiss Jura near Basel, by Paul Cattin and Georges Christian, and it is still based there. It is one of the few Swiss watch companies that remains fully independent, and it makes mechanical watches only. Its red rotor is the visible signature of that choice. In 2020 Oris introduced the Calibre 400, an in-house automatic with a five-day power reserve and high resistance to magnetism, and has since built a family of movements on it. The company is also known for limited editions tied to conservation projects and to baseball, including watches honoring Hank Aaron and Lou Gehrig.
Hamilton stocks the main Oris families. The Aquis is the modern dive watch, here in Date, Relief and Calibre 400 versions. The Big Crown Pointer Date carries the pointer-hand date Oris has made since 1938, including an 80th anniversary edition. The ProPilot and ProPilot X cover aviation, the Divers Sixty-Five brings the 1965 dive watch back in original proportions, including a chronograph, and the Artelier is the dress line. Oris suits anyone who wants a real Swiss mechanical watch with character, at the start of a collection or alongside more expensive pieces.
Oris watches wear differently across the lines, from the slim Artelier to the solid Aquis, so it helps to try them on. Visit our watch salons in Princeton or Palm Beach, or book an appointment and our team will set out the models you want to see. Every order is gift wrapped, and we can help you choose a model for someone else.
