G-SHOCK at Hamilton Jewelers
G-SHOCK was born at Casio in 1983, after engineer Kikuo Ibe broke a watch his father had given him and set out to build one that would not break. The first model, the DW-5000C, met his internal target of surviving a ten meter drop, ten bar of water pressure and a ten year battery. The hollow case structure and floating module he devised remain the basis of every G-SHOCK since. Over four decades the line has added solar charging, radio and Bluetooth time sync, carbon cores and full metal cases, while keeping the square 5600 silhouette in production.
Hamilton stocks G-SHOCK from the entry models to the top of the range. That includes the 2100 series, the 5000 and 5600 squares, Full Metal versions in steel, the Master of G family of Mudmaster, Frogman and Rangeman tool watches, the G-STEEL, the MT-G with its metal-and-resin core guard, and the MR-G, Casio's flagship made in Yamagata, Japan with titanium cases and hand-finished details. There are women's sizes and limited editions as well. G-SHOCK suits a collector who wants a watch for travel, sport and hard use, and it makes a dependable gift.
