Hamilton Select is the classic solitaire. A simple four-prong head in 14k gold holds the diamond up to the light with nothing to distract from it. It is the ring most people picture when they think of an engagement ring, and it is the one that works with any wedding band bought later. Each ring is assembled and set in Hamilton's Princeton workshop and finished by hand.
Hamilton offers Select in 14k white, yellow, and rose gold, sold complete with the center diamond. Round brilliant diamonds run from about 0.50 carat to 3.00 carats, and there are oval, pear, and radiant cut options, including a 2.31 carat radiant in platinum and 18k yellow gold. Because the mounting is simple, more of the budget goes to the diamond. The collection suits a first engagement ring, a reset of a family diamond, or anyone who wants the stone to stand on its own. Diamond color and clarity are listed on each product page, and most stones are accompanied by a grading report. Several rings are available in each metal and carat weight, so a size can usually be matched on the day.
