CHANEL entered watchmaking in 1987 with the Première, an octagonal watch whose case shape echoes the stopper of the N°5 bottle and the outline of the Place Vendôme, worn on a chain bracelet woven with leather like the house's handbag straps. In 2000 came the J12, a black ceramic sports watch designed by Jacques Helleu that made high-tech ceramic a luxury material; the white version followed in 2003. Since 2019 the J12 has run on the Caliber 12.1 and 12.2 automatic movements built by CHANEL's own Swiss manufacture in La Chaux-de-Fonds, with design still directed from the studio in Paris.
Hamilton stocks the J12 in 33 and 38 millimeter sizes, in white and black ceramic, including the Phantom, Blush and diamond-bezel versions and the Mademoiselle J12 Couture and La Pausa editions. The Première is here in Gourmette chain, Iconic chain and Ribbon forms, and the Boy·Friend and Code Coco complete the range.
