Georg Jensen at Hamilton Home
Georg Jensen opened a small silversmithy in Copenhagen in 1904, and the house that carries his name became one of the defining voices of Scandinavian design over the century that followed. Its catalog is a roll call of Danish designers: Sigvard Bernadotte in the 1930s, Henning Koppel from the 1940s onward, and contemporary names since. The work is sculptural and spare, in sterling, stainless steel and mirror-polished metal, with forms that look as current now as when they were drawn.
Hamilton Home carries Georg Jensen's home collection. The Koppel pitcher, designed by Henning Koppel in 1952, and the Bernadotte pitcher are the pieces people buy as a wedding gift and keep for life. Cobra, with its curving stainless steel, covers trays and tealight holders. Bloom Botanica and Flora vases and the Bloom centerpiece hold flowers on a table or a sideboard. The Elephant frames and the Miniphant banks, in plain steel and in colors like vanilla bean, blueberry sprinkle and strawberry blush, are the gifts most often chosen for a christening or a new baby.
The polish and weight of the steel are hard to judge online, and the collection is on display in Princeton and Palm Beach. Book an appointment and our team will help you choose a pitcher, add Georg Jensen to a registry, or find a frame for a nursery. Every order is gift wrapped.
